Module 5 - Contrology on the Ladder Barrel & Chairs
Course Description:
This Pilates course is designed for Pilates and/or post-rehabilitation & rehabilitation professionals. Current research in movement science, biomechanics, kinesiology and motor learning is applied to utilizing postural assessment and movement screening and exercise prescription through eight basic movement principles. Lectures, demonstration & hands-on labs are used to teach the use of the Ladder Barrel & Chairs. This two-day course will cover introductory-intermediate repertoire on the Ladder Barrel & Chair in the Pilates environment and integrate the specific application individual clients needs

Prerequisites:
Contrology Fundamentals & Movement Analysis Course, Contrology on the Mat through Integrated Balance and/or another approved organization. 15 hours of self movement practice on the Chair and 5 self movement practice hours on the Spine Corrector.
Objectives:
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Effectively and safely instruct the introductory & intermediate Chair and Barrel repertoire for a relatively healthy population
2. Utilize Integrated Balance movement fundamentals and Pilates principles on the Chair & Barrel in conjunction with other evidence-based movement techniques to optimize functional fitness.
3. Integrate aspects of neuromuscular control & biomechanics into program design.
4. Recognize tissue limitations for clients who have previous injury and or diagnoses in order to safely modify their fitness program.
5. Understand the scope of practice of rehabilitation/fitness providers in order to develop a client wellness continuum within each professional’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.
6. Establish client limitations, goals and specific programming approach based on the Integrated Balance movement analysis and movement principles.
